>Meet the LS-VTEC's big brother. Like it's
sibling, the K20/K24 Hybrid combines the best
parts of two different Honda powerplants,
while maintaining a good chunk of the OEM
parts, and therefore, OEM reliability. The
naming lineage is straightforward - bolt a K20
head onto a K24 block and... a K20/K24 is
born.
>Utilizing the K20 head over the K24 head
offers improved air flow, smaller chambers to
help raise compression and better cams if
you're using factory pieces
> The K24 block, crank and timing chains are
really the only parts used from the K24. This
allows for more bore and stroke than can be
obtained using the K20 bottom end along
with a taller deck height. In stock form, any
version of the K Series is, litre-for-litre, a
high-torque, high- horsepower engine. Even in
all-OEM form, the K Series Hybrid, along with
a quality tuning solution and knowledgeable
tuner, produces impressive numbers.
>Moving on from the all-OEM formula, huge
gains are to be had through piston, cam and
injector upgrades, as well as forced induction.
