On the street, strip or track, aggressive shifting can soon lead to shifting problems in Honda transmissions - most often due to worn synchros. The job of the synchro is to stop the gear you are shifting into, so that it can mesh without grinding. Worn synchros lead to damaged gears and shifting problems. And while the OEM synchros are well built, they are not designed to put up with the stress and shock from aggressive driving.

The latest synchros from Synchrotech have been completely redesigned - with a full carbon lining instead of just a coating. The new material is the result of over a year of testing. In during a two month testing period, the new carbon synchros were subjected to countless passes with shifts over 10,000 RPM's.

The OEM synchros are brass, including the friction area. Synchrotech synchros have a proprietary carbon material bonded to the friction surface, and in addition, feature a larger friction surface that the OEM units. These synchros are constructed of extra-strong brass and feature an improved lock angle to aid in high RPM shifting.
